People living with HIV carry several fears about how the world will treat them because of their status. One of those fears for me was losing my pretty privilege. I believe bringing awareness to this fear holds an extreme amount of insight into how our society directly influences how we view ourselves and others.
Our society admires attractive people, and since they do, beautiful people don’t have to face rejection in their love, sex, and financial lives. Was my beauty enough to not be diminished by my HIV since society deems it to be an unattractive asset as mine?
